Giant basal cell carcinoma on the leg in a patient with known HIV infection

A 55-year-old HIV-positive patient presented with increasing ulcerations on his right lower leg and knee that had been present for over two years. He had previously been treated unsuccessfully at another hospital for chronic venous insufficiency using various topical therapies and a split-thickness skin graft. He also developed a periprosthetic infection around the total endoprosthesis in his right knee, for which he was treated with intravenous antibiotics and a spacer for several weeks.
